Prepare yourself for a surprise when you see the barn – it’s much bigger than most people expect and provides spacious living for four people, (plus cot or Z-bed by negotiation) all on one level. Your approach is via an attractive arched gateway covered with flowering climbers  where The Old Stables’ yard clock keeps time beneath the mellow barn roof tiles.

Throughout the year, the vicinity is beautifully planted, reaching its zenith during the high season, when the rambling roses, cascading geraniums and flowering shrubs burst into full bloom.

The Jotul  woodburner is the central focus of the room and in winter creates a romantic warmth which permeates the barn. Large, comfy sofas complete the picture. On the other hand, this traditionally ideal scenario is supported by modern technology.

Much consideration has been lavished on the need for a perfect night’s sleep, hence the excellent quality super king-sized master bed with its indulgent pocket-sprung mattress and crisp, fresh linen. There are two double bedrooms which offer a degree of flexibility in terms of sleeping arrangements. Power showers in both en-suite bathrooms ensure an invigorating start to your day.

Walks from the Old Stables are a particular delight because you reach the footpath straight from your own front door.
